River
Mist Development is a small, private residential development on the
Little Tennessee River. All the lots are either riverfront lots or
offer access to the river via a community park with a deck on the
river with picnic tables and a fire pit for the enjoyment of River
Mist residents. It also has a community pond with a place for play
and picnics.
It is located just 8 minutes from the center
of Franklin (just over 3 miles), yet it seems so secluded you will
think you are alone. During the building of home sites, our
developer saw all sorts of wild life - deer, wild turkeys, swans,
geese, ducks, an eagle, beavers, mink, otters and various kinds of
water birds.
Its location on the Little Tennessee River
offers some pleasant possibilities. The Little Tennessee rises in
the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Chattahoochee National Forest in
Georgia. It flows north into North Carolina. In Franklin, it is
joined by the Cullasaja River, flowing through the Nantahala
National Forest into eastern Tennessee. It joins the Tennessee River
at Lenoir City, Tennessee.
The Little Tennessee River has
played a major role in the history of the Cherokee Indians. It
received its name from the Cherokee town of Tanasi. As you stand in
the community park at River Mist you can see an ancient Cherokee
fish weir spanning the river, used by the Indians to funnel fish
into their waiting baskets. It is a swift flowing, cold, clean
stream known for its excellent fishing. Smallmouth bass, largemouth
bass, brook, rainbow and brown trout, panfish and catfish all enjoy

Our home sites range in size from 1 ½
acres to over 3 acres. The home sites and driveways are already in
place and septic permits are complete. Our restrictions are designed
to insure that your home will only increase in value as land with
river access becomes harder to buy.
